Sigrid Hubbell cultivates awe for city dwellers with her Oakland-grown seasonal bouquets (featuring a unique assortment of flowers, herbs, branches, and vines); dried botanicals; and therapeutic interactive horticultural workshops. As a horticultural liaison, she aims to tether us back to the natural world by acquainting us with the captivating and multi-sensory qualities of plants which ground us in the present moment and benefit our wellbeing.
Bouquet improv is exactly as it sounds; an improvisation that happens when Sigrid enters her garden. She creates bouquets that are inspired by what is happening at the moment in the garden - without a formula or preconceived form. She delights in observing what is just budding out, at peak bloom, or ready to set seed. She grows a vast array of plants on her city plot in the Hoover-Foster neighborhood of Oakland and creates botanical art with an emphasis on showcasing the complete life cycle of her garden’s flora.
